Building a Farmer-Powered Circular Bioeconomy

Our organisation exists to transform agricultural residues into long-term environmental and economic value. By working alongside farmers, researchers, governments and industry, we are building a climate-tech ecosystem that strengthens rural livelihoods while contributing to climate action.

Our Journey Began with a Simple Question

Why should valuable agricultural residues be burned or discarded when they can improve soils, support farmers and contribute to climate action?

That question shaped everything that followed. We started by looking closely at what happens to rice husk, rice straw, bamboo residues and tea bush prunings across Assam each year, and at what farming communities could gain if that biomass became a resource instead of a problem.

Our Mission

To connect rural communities with a sustainable agricultural residue collection network that transforms biomass into valuable climate resources.

Our Vision

To build one of India’s most trusted farmer-powered climate-tech platforms, connecting biomass, technology and rural communities while enabling the transition towards a circular bioeconomy.

Our Values

Farmer First

Farmers are long-term partners, never suppliers.

Science Driven

Every claim and process is grounded in evidence.

Transparency

Open about what is achieved and what is still ahead.

Innovation

Practical technology that works in real rural conditions.

Collaboration

Built with governments, researchers and institutions.

Environmental Responsibility

Every decision weighed against its climate impact.

Long-Term Thinking

Built to grow responsibly over the next decade.

Community Development

Stronger rural economies, not just better soil.

Why Assam?

Rich agricultural landscape, large rice production, a globally recognised tea sector, extensive bamboo resources and strong rural communities give Assam high potential for circular bioeconomy initiatives.

Assam is the beginning of our journey, not the limit of our ambition.

Meet the Founders

Two people built this organisation. Thousands of people are the reason it exists.

Monalisha

Co-Founder

A believer in building things that put people before profit, Monalisha co-founded this work to turn overlooked agricultural residue into real opportunity for the communities who grow it.

Anshuman, Co-Founder of CarbonRetain

Anshuman

Co-Founder

Driven by the conviction that climate solutions must be built with rural communities, not around them, Anshuman co-founded this work to connect farmers, science and sustainable technology.

The Real Founders

Before there was an organisation, there were farmers, growing rice, tending tea, cutting bamboo, watching valuable agricultural residue burn or rot for lack of any better option. It was their daily reality, spread across districts all over Assam, that first inspired this work.

In every honest sense, they are the real founders. Every collection route, every partnership and every kilogram of biochar exists because rural communities across Assam showed us what was needed, and trusted us enough to build it alongside them.

This is not only a climate company. It is a people’s company, built for Climate, and built for People.
